Abstract

Regenerative endodontic procedure (PER) is a biological based technique commonly performed on necrotic teeth with an immature apex. This procedure involves debriding necrotic tissue from the root canal, disinfecting the root canal, and biological obturation of the root canal by bleeding to achieve pulp regeneration. Currently, REP has emerged as an alternative to conventional root canal treatment in teeth with a mature apex. This literature review describes the biological mechanisms of REP, instrumentation techniques, disinfection with irrigants, application of intracanal medication, bleeding induction, and application of bioceramics in both immature and mature apex teeth. In conclusion, REP has shown good results in teeth with a mature apex; however, further research is still needed.
