Complicaciones odontológicas asociadas a la proximidad al canal mandibular: mini-revisión de literatura

Abstract

The mandibular canal is an anatomical structure of great importance in dental treatments. It is essential to assess the proximity of the mandibular canal to the root apices before performing endodontic or surgical procedures, using tools such as radiographs or digital tomography to measure the distance between both structures. There are situations in which the root apices are in intimate contact with the mandibular canal and may even be included within it. Therefore, it is important to perform a correct evaluation to reduce the probability of generating complications, which can arise from the placement of anesthesia to the obturation of the root canal, in the case of endodontic treatments. Another possibility is that complications may arise during surgical procedures such as tooth extractions or implant placement. This mini-literature review seeks to review relevant information on cases where there is proximity between the root apices and the mandibular canal.
